Family E. has been living in the 50's house on the edge of the park for 11 years. The children are becoming teenagers and they have the desire to adapt the interior to the changed lifestyle. The layout can be improved, giving the ground floor more functions. This family is very fond of cooking and good food; the kitchen and dining table are therefore also central.

The result of an extension
Ten years ago, there was a major renovation and a four-meter section was added to the rear. As a result, the living area has been extended, often creating a soulless space in the middle. This is partly due to the fact that the light falls beautifully in the front and rear, so that the center space is literally in the shade. When the children are still small, there is plenty of playing and building with trains and Lego here, but when the children become teenagers, it is used more as a transport space.
So extra attention can be given to this central space by means of color and especially a good lighting plan. By placing the dining table in this middle space, the rear space offers an ideal place for an extra lounge seat with a view of the garden.
